For over 130 years the Helvetia Männerchor ('Swiss Singers') has provided the Pittsburgh area with Swiss ethnic entertainment. The choir was founded in 1874 and chartered in 1893 in Allegheny City (annexed by Pittsburgh in 1907). The Männerchor was involved in the founding of the Swiss-American Singing Alliance in 1896, which evolved into the North American Swiss Singing Alliance. The Männerchor also had the opportunity to host the Alliance's Singing Festival in 1939, 1971 and 1997.
The Swiss Singers perform at several events each year, including weddings, anniversaries, and the annual events of the Swiss-American Society of Pittsburgh.
If you are interested in singing and promoting Swiss music we invite you to contact us. The Männerchor is also available for performances.
